Impact of U research significant on state economy

SALT LAKE CITY -- A new study shows research done at the University of Utah has a significant impact on the state's economy.
The report from the Bureau of Economic and Business Research found in fiscal year 2008, sponsored research at the university had an impact of $525.3 million in gross state product. That was about $160 million more than the school spent on research in that year.
