Leaders in the Medical Device Industry Invited to UTC Event with Mark Leahey, President and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association
Utah Technology Council event to address pressing issues for medical device professionals in 2010
January 19, 2010 - The medical device industry faces a number of key issues in 2010, including the impact of health care reform on medical technology companies, device tax and physician sunshine and payment reforms.
To address these concerns, The Utah Technology Council (UTC) will host the Medical Device Event February 10, 2009 at Dynatronics in Salt Lake City, Utah. The event is an opportunity for device company executives to receive an update from MDMA President and CEO, Mark Leahey regarding the issues that are most critical for this industry sector in the coming year.
“Utah’s medical device industry is an exciting and innovative sector that is essential to the Life Science industry of our state,” said Richard R. Nelson, President and CEO of the UTC. “Having Mr. Leahey come to Utah to communicate directly with our device industry companies will be beneficial for all leaders in the medical device industry. He is a leader who represents the interests of entrepreneurial and innovative medical device companies lobbying for the companies that develop these devices and, in particular, for the smaller companies in this sector, to protect their interests. He is a true advocate in this critical field.”
Mark Leahey is the President & CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA), a national trade association in Washington, DC that represents innovative research-driven medical technology companies. For more than eight years, Mr. Leahey has successfully advocated on behalf of the entrepreneurial sector of the medical device industry to Congress, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other federal and state agencies.
