Alan E. Hall, founder of Grow America, is a consummate entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and author. He launched the organization in early 2012 after observing a hardworking neighbor fall asleep at a meeting. Hall later learned the man had been laid off, and was working at three low paying jobs simultaneously to support his family.
Hall asked a company in his angel investment portfolio to hire the man for a suitable position and covered the cost of his initial salary. However, the experience made him wonder how many other Americans, like his neighbor, are unemployed, underemployed, or are working in environments of undue stress in faltering corporations.
Hall founded Grow America with the singular mission of helping thousands of businesses to grow and by doing so to create hundreds of thousands of jobs. Following a successful pilot in Utah, Grow America is now opening its doors to the entire U.S. to support ventures at three stages: idea phase, startup, or ready to grow.
“Entrepreneurs are perhaps the most critical element of our national and global economy,” said Hall. “Job creation depends on an ecosystem that can help fund, launch and support our growing and new companies. We want to do all within our power to provide entrepreneurs with access to the funding and resources they need.”
“Six million companies begin every year, and they need tools, technology and mentoring resources to succeed,” said Mark Hurst, Grow America CEO. “We consider this program and platform to be an essential endeavor and are very excited to use these new resources to serve entrepreneurs in America, and ultimately throughout the world.”
