SLC law firms team up to support Utah Food Bank Five local firms donate more than $20,000 and nearly 500 pounds of food for those in need SALT LAKE CITY – Feb. 14, 2013 – For the third year in a row, Salt Lake City law firms have joined together in support of Utah Food Bank. This year, five firms jointly collected more than $20,000 in cash and nearly 500 pounds for the organization. Participating firms included Dorsey & Whitney, Durham Jones & Pinegar, Fabian Attorneys at Law, Jones Waldo and Parr Brown.

The cash donation is significant because Utah Food Bank can turn every $1 donation into $8 worth of food and services due to the support of volunteers and in-kind donors. According to Utah Food Bank, from every $1 donation, 95 cents goes directly to food and services while only 5 cent goes to administration and overhead. Utah Food Bank collects and distributes food to a network of human services organizations throughout the state.

Karen Sendelback, Utah Food Bank’s Chief Executive Officer said, “We are so grateful for the contributions these firms make each year. Together, we can achieve our mission of fighting hunger statewide.”
